So much stupid hype and worries with Mitt Romney the famous and perhaps becoming the infamous, Mormon who is running for President. I am just old enough to remember the furor when John F. Kennedy ran for President of the US as a Catholic. Seems like after he was elected he had many more things to worry about than whether or not his pope would direct him, as did the rest of America. I have a feeling that should Mitt be elected, there will not be JFK stories after he is out of office. That does not mean that I am voting for him. I haven't decided but right now my leanings go to people who probably will be not an offering.
But I still wonder what people can't understand about a Mormon (a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) being a Christian. It's in our name. We speak of Christ, we write about him, we try to share His message and mostly we try to become more like Him. For mere mortals it means we have to struggle through our own imperfections to get there, usually tripping over ourselves and those very same imperfections. But in slow measures we try to get there.
The LDS people have and still do endure opposition but what's really funny is that the opposers don't have a clue that by their very opposition (to anything, actually) the opposed become stronger...in this case, in nothing more than their testimonies.
You bet I am a Christian! And rejoice that I can say that. I know without a doubt that Jesus came to earth, leaving His home on high to do so, to be opposed in every direction he turned andwas killed and did it willingly for me, for you. He laid in a tomb and to be raised in the first glorious resurrection. To continue to be in our lives, to direct us through revelation.
So anyone out there have a thought? Wanna share what you think or have thought about the Mormons? Any questions you might have? Let's have a nice discussion and pleasant exchange of ideas.
And by the way...Merry CHRISTmas!

hi, i too am a mormon and even live in utah which is one of the friendliest, lowest crime and family oriented states around, graduated from BYU-the LDS or Mormon or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' college in Provo, Utah. We definately are a Christian church as my friend Susi Q says in her blog. I think others who accuse us of not being Christians are upset for some unique views that we have about Christ that is the literal spiritual and physical son of our Heavenly Father. somehow demystifying the Son to not just be a vague power in the universe but a real being and our brother seems to put us in the position of non Christians? now that doesn't make sense. Our Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ's life in the American continent and reaffirms the Holy Bible which we study in our Sunday School classes diligently.
I too am Christian. I know my Savior lives. I feel the love and peace he brings me every day, including CHRISTmas day. I am amazed people think LDS are not christian, when the very name of our church carries his name. It is Christ's church and I am doing what I can to become like him. I agree with the very fact of oppostion, making the point even stronger. I feel that having a presidential candidate being LDS brings an awareness of the teachings of The Church to many people that would not have been exposed to the gospel. I too am still deciding on who to vote for, but I am grateful for the exposure it has giving The Church. It will always raise a question of faith to many people, good or bad, it still makes people think and reinforces their own faith and beliefs of Heavenly Father.
