Heroes

Here's Maddie and me.....She comes for piano lessons and Wednesdays and actually practices! That's rare in and of itself these days. But she finds books to play out of, writes her own music, and with her mom locates blues and jazzy songs for free downloads, brings them to me and we about having her learn them.

Here is a pictures of the two of us with her brother Nathan. These kids are amazing but then they come from good parents and grandparents. When the kids and their mom Holly took me with them to the store 2 weeks ago, it was the kids who made sure I made it through the parking lot safely. Nathan let me cling on to his coat for dear life. And we didn't fall.

Today after lessons I noticed a different book on the side of the piano and wondered if she had found something new to practice. But rather than that, it was her school workbook. Her assignment was to write a poem...but it was a poem about her hero. And that turned out to be me. What a special gift! Hope you can read it since I just scanned it.

When she was done reading it to me, I looked in the mirror and wondered if my hair looked overcooked. We all had a good chuckle on that one. Thanks Wares!
